What's New?

Millennium Celebrations - planning for the millennium involves the local church, the Parish Council and the Wingerworth Community Association. The following activities are planned to mark this event:

Members of All Saints congregation will give a special millennium candle to every household in the parish
The Parish Council will give every person under 16 a commemorative glass engraved with the Hunloke family crest
A mural produced by Tupton Hall School depicting scenes from the village
A special Fair on 1st July running from midday to midnight

The new Rector - the village has a new rector, Roger Watts, who will be inducted on 1st November at 7.30 in All Saints Church. Roger will replace Stuart Millington who moved on with his wife Jenny to Bury.

Health Centre - the debate hots up with the main issue being access to the land for the centre. There is divided opinion as to whether it should be via Allendale Road (using the existing service road for the shops, community centre, recycling centre and park) or off Longedge Lane. A site meeting is planned on 2nd November to review the options.

Wingerworth Website - the Parish Council is considering adopting a new website about the village of Wingerworth. You can visit it at http://www.wingerworth.co.uk . Do you think we should?.
